Rangers slam Hibernian away fans for mocking the Ibrox disaster and for vandalising the stadium with graffiti.

In the aftermath of the recent Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Hibernian at Ibrox stadium, it was not the 4-0 victory of Rangers over Hibernian that made the headlines, but the condemnable actions of a section of Hibernian supporters.

The away end at Ibrox was left with graffiti and stickers that mocked the horrific 1971 Ibrox disaster.

The number 66, representative of the lives lost, was inscribed on some seats, while others were marked with photographs of stairway 13, the site of the disaster.

Accompanying these images were the words: "Stairwell Thirteen - it's the greatest sight that I have ever seen." This blatant mockery of a tragic event is a stark reminder of how the rivalry between teams can sometimes blur the lines of humanity and decency.

Adding insult to injury, the graffiti also carried derogatory remarks mocking the death of Queen Elizabeth II and supporting the IRA.

Both Rangers and Hibernian FC were quick to condemn these malicious actions.

A Rangers spokesperson expressed their disdain, calling the act outrageous and devoid of a place in any football stadium or society at large. The Ibrox disaster remains a painful memory for the Rangers community, and Hibernian FC echoed these sentiments, denouncing the behaviour of the individuals involved.

The clubs have pledged to work together to identify the perpetrators of the act, with Hibernian urging anyone with information to reach out through their website.
