He was born in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture in 1958. He graduated from Waseda University.
In 1987, he established Tyrell Corporation (Japan's first music video production company). He has directed many music videos for Japanese and international artists.
In 1993, he founded PEACEDELIC. He has worked on video productions involving dolphins and fireworks, peace activism, etc.

In addition to commercials and music videos, he is renowned for signage with exquisite images, such as the panoramic signage currently on display in the central concourse of Kyoto Station.

After the Great East Japan Earthquake, he started the Peace Nippon Project to pass on Japan’s legacy to future generations, filming Japan as his life's work. As the first film of the project, he directed the film, “Peace Nippon”. It took eight years to make and was recorded in high definition 4K. It features over 200 locations in Japan with spectacular footage of Japan's four seasons. This extremely beautiful film was released in theatres across Japan in 2018.
