A huge day in the EFL Championship delivered drama at both ends of the table and shook up the promotion race.

Coventry City stay top despite losing at Birmingham, who grabbed a vital 3–2 win to boost their survival hopes. Middlesbrough closed the gap at the summit in emphatic style with a ruthless 4–0 victory over Southampton, underlining their promotion credentials. Ipswich remain firmly in the automatic conversation, while Preston and Millwall continue to apply pressure just outside the top three.

Wrexham’s 2–1 win at Derby keeps their playoff push alive, while Stoke picked up a crucial away win at Norwich to edge further clear of trouble. QPR were convincing against Sheffield Wednesday, who remain rooted to the bottom with their points deduction continuing to hurt.

At the other end, the relegation picture is tightening. Blackburn and Charlton shared points, doing little to ease their worries, while Portsmouth and Norwich remain dangerously close to the drop zone.
