Digital thermometers are the preferable one, whereas infrared thermometer is not preferred for its less accuracy. And due to the risks of mercury thermometers, it is advisable to not use it.
The axillary site is the best site to check a child's temperature.
To clean the thermometer, use a simple cloth and water; do not immerse the thermometer completely in water. Use an alcohol swab if you're using the thermometer on many individuals.
Oral thermometers are not preferred, but if the kid can remain still, you can use one by placing it under the tongue to avoid biting.
Although an infrared thermometer is not preferred, it can be used if the infant is restless and there is no other way to monitor the child's temperature.
There is a tendency to rap the baby overly if he or she is having chills, try to avoid that since it will cause the temperature to shoot up, which is not good. Also, avoid sponging with cold water; the child will have chills, and the temperature will rise.
