Improvisation on 'Amazing Grace' Vernon Hoyle Johannus LiVE III AGO

Описание к видео Improvisation on 'Amazing Grace' Vernon Hoyle Johannus LiVE III AGO

Vernon Hoyle is a prolific composer of organ music some of which, like this piece, are based upon familiar hymn melodies. In this instance, the traditional melody of "Amazing grace" is used as the inspiration. The dedication reads "In memory of Catherine Margaret Watson (29.10.1939 - 21.11.2023): a truly remarkable lady."

This recording was made on a Johannus Live III AGO organ, using the sample of the fine Hill organ in the church of the Holy Name, opposite the University of Manchester on Oxford Road, Manchester (the organ case is pictured at the beginning and end of the video). The sample sets can be heard from four positions: console, front of the church, centre of the church, rear of the church. This recording uses the rear of the church position, affording the most generous recording of the wonderful acoustic in this fine building.
