Lufthansa Boeing 747-8 Frankfurt to Chicago - Business Class

Onboard the Queen of the skies! A Boeing 747, this was the -8 varient operated by Lufthansa on a flight from Frankfurt to Chicago O'Hare. Filmed from Seat 7A, in the main deck, Business Class cabin.
Now I've been wanting to get a video onboard a Lufthansa 747-8 for some time now and while browsing their website I found return flights from London to the USA to be under £400! £398 to be exact, for a return ticket, in economy from London to Los Angeles. Now me being me... of course I chose the journey with the most connections. So I chose the option to go from London to Frankfurt, Frankfurt to Chicago, then over to Los Angeles with United, which is a Star Alliance partner with LH. Once that was all booked, on the Lufthansa app they offer a breakdown of the flights you have with the option to upgrade each sector. To upgrade to Business on this flight was coming out at £429. So for the opportunity to fly in business class on a 747 I thought why not and took the offer.
Generally the price of Business Class on this route is between 1,500 & 2,000 EUR each way and return of around 3,000 to 3,600 EUR. So for the price of the upgrade on their app, I thought it was quite a good deal.

The Cabin & Service:
Luckily for me I had both seats to myself, 7A & 7C as there isn't actually much privacy or space if you were to be sat next to a stranger. The seating in business is in a 2-2-2 configuration with the 2 seats facing slightly towards each other. On your seat is a small pillow & duvet and in the stowage under the IFE screen is a bottle of water and a reusable bag, containing amenities such as an eye mask, socks & toothbrush. In the armrest you'll find seat movement controls and when you open the flap you'll find headphones and a rather dated looking remote control for the IFE system. For a relatively modern aircraft, I did think the IFE & control were quite old school. Before take off I was offered a choice of Orange juice, water or Sparkling Wine (Not Champagne as it wasn't French).
The tray table folds out of the armrest in half and folds over again to make a full size table. I have to say it was actually a little unstable. Fortunately it was smooth during the meal & drink service or I fear I might have ended up with food or drink over me. However the service offered by the crew was fantastic. The crew member introduced herself to me and spoke in both German & English to all passengers, based on their own preference. The starter I had chosen, they had run out of, but instead I was quickly offered an alternative from the First Class cabin, without even asking for it. The quality of the food itself wasn't too bad, overall I have had better, but also much worse. So no complaints, but it wasn't anything special. However the second meal offering, the paneer curry was a little disappointing. Between meals I decided to recline and try and rest. When the seat is fully reclined there is not much foot space on the footstall at all. I dread to think if there was someone next to me, your feet would be touching. Not great.
IFE was good, although handset a little dated. Seat was comfortable enough, just quite restrictive with space. Pillow was actually quite poor quality for a business class product. Food & drinks offering were pretty good, nothing special but not bad. Crew were great and didn't mind me having a walk around the cabin, galley & stairwell to get some footage.
