Описание к видео Doctors Reveal: 7 Early Prostate Cancer Warning Signs You Should Never Ignore | Senior Health Tips

Prostate cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death for men in the United States, yet it often develops silently with no symptoms in early stages. In this video, you'll discover 7 early warning signs doctors want you to know, why these symptoms shouldn't be ignored even though they can also indicate benign conditions, and when to schedule screening with your healthcare provider.

Why Early Detection Is Critical
Most prostate cancers are found at an early stage when the cancer is only in the prostate and hasn't caused symptoms yet, which is why regular screening is so important for men over 50 or those at higher risk. When symptoms do appear, they often indicate that the cancer has grown larger or spread beyond the prostate, making treatment more challenging. The warning signs in this video can also be caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), prostatitis, urinary tract infections, or kidney stones—but only a healthcare provider can determine the true cause, so prompt evaluation is essential.

The 7 Early Warning Signs
We'll walk you through frequent urination, especially at night (called nocturia), which happens when an enlarged or cancerous prostate presses on the urethra and bladder, causing you to wake multiple times to urinate. Difficulty starting urination or weak, interrupted urine stream occurs when the tumor blocks or narrows the urethra, making it hard to get urine flowing or causing the stream to start and stop. A strong or sudden urge to urinate (urgency) and trouble emptying the bladder completely are signs that the prostate is interfering with normal bladder function. Burning or pain during urination can indicate prostate cancer, though it's more commonly associated with infection or inflammation. Blood in the urine or semen, which may make urine look pink, red, or cola-colored, is a serious symptom requiring immediate medical attention as it can signal advanced disease. Painful ejaculation or sudden erectile dysfunction may occur when cancer affects nerves, blood vessels, or tissues around the prostate. Discomfort or pain when sitting caused by an enlarged prostate, or persistent pain in the back, hips, pelvis, or bones that doesn't go away can indicate that cancer has spread beyond the prostate to surrounding tissues or bones.

Advanced Symptoms That Require Urgent Care
This video explains symptoms that suggest prostate cancer may have spread to other parts of the body and require immediate medical evaluation. Advanced prostate cancer symptoms include bone pain in the hips, spine, ribs, or other areas if cancer has metastasized to the bones; unexplained weight loss and fatigue; weakness or numbness in the legs or feet; loss of bowel or bladder control caused by spinal cord compression when a tumor presses on the spinal cord; and swelling in the lower body if cancer blocks lymph nodes. You'll learn that in rare cases, prostate cancer can cause paraneoplastic syndrome—a group of symptoms including high blood pressure, fatigue, and weight loss that occur when substances released by cancer cells disrupt normal organ function. Kidney failure can happen if a tumor blocks the ureters, preventing urine from flowing from the kidneys to the bladder.

When to Get Screened and What to Do
We'll show you the screening guidelines doctors recommend based on age and risk factors. All men should discuss prostate cancer screening with their healthcare provider starting at age 50 if they're at average risk and expected to live at least 10 more years. Men at high risk—including African Americans and men who have a father or brother diagnosed with prostate cancer before age 65—should begin screening discussions at age 45. Men at very high risk with more than one first-degree family member diagnosed at a young age should start screening conversations at age 40. The video explains that screening is done through a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test that measures a protein made by the prostate gland—higher PSA levels might indicate cancer, though elevated PSA can also be caused by BPH or prostatitis. If you experience any of the 7 warning signs, don't wait for your next scheduled checkup—make an appointment with your doctor right away for evaluation, which may include a physical exam, PSA test, and possibly a digital rectal exam or biopsy. Remember that having these symptoms does not mean you have cancer, but only a medical professional can determine the cause and recommend appropriate treatment.
