Pawtucket’s abandoned McCoy Stadium

Описание к видео Pawtucket’s abandoned McCoy Stadium

McCoy Stadium is a former ballpark in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. From 1970 through 2020, it served as the home of the Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate team, the Pawtucket Red Sox. Opened in 1942, the stadium hosted a few teams before the PawSox moved in. Throughout its lifetime, McCoy has seen future Red Sox stars kickstart their careers in Pawtucket. In 1981, McCoy Stadium hosted the longest professional baseball game in history when the PawSox defeated the Rochester Red Wings in 33 innings by a score of 3–2.

After failing to agree to a deal with Pawtucket or Providence city officials on replacing the historic McCoy Stadium with a new ballpark, PawSox owners decided to move the Triple-A team up to Worcester, Massachusetts. The current state of the stadium is in a state of decay as it was abandoned after the 2020 MiLB season, the PawSox's last.
