ACTOR DEMO REEL SCENE -- Imitation Game

Описание к видео ACTOR DEMO REEL SCENE -- Imitation Game

Here's a little scene I shot, directed, and edited for my classmates Denisa Dof and Simon Akenhead. It is from Academy Award-winning film, Imitation Game, adapted and modernized slightly to align with our specific casting for demo purposes.

Why did we film this?

Self-tapes are great, but agents and casting directors often want a demo reel (a.k.a. showreel) so that they can see what an actor will "look like" in film and TV. If you're a seasoned actor with multiple credits to your name, that's great! You can just source from material you already have. But what about actors who are just starting their journeys? Actors who might not even have representation and are looking to get signed by an agent?

Whatever stage you're at, you need to have a 'showcase' of your work that you can pull out whenever the situation calls for it. It could be running into a famous director at the restaurant you work at, or connecting with a talented director of photography at a networking event, or even pitching yourself to a writer you really want to work with!

Scenes like this that are aligned with your branding are excellent at communicating:

1. Who you are,
2. What roles you're suited to, and
3. What roles you actually want to play!

If you have any more questions about branding, demos (scene selection, filming, etc.) and acquiring representation, don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for watching!
