Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been conferred with the ‘Order of the Most Ancient Welwitschia Mirabilis’, Namibia’s highest civilian honour. The award was presented by Namibian President Dr Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.

Instituted in 1995, the prestigious award honours exceptional leadership and service. It was introduced shortly after Namibia's independence in 1990 and is traditionally conferred on heads of state and other distinguished global figures.

The order is named after the Welwitschia Mirabilis, an ancient, resilient desert plant native to Namibia. It symbolizes endurance, longevity, and the indomitable spirit of the Namibian people and their heritage.

This marks the 27th international honour received by PM Modi and the fourth during his current five-nation tour, following similar recognitions from Brazil, Ghana, and Trinidad and Tobago earlier this week.
