“Have you ever held on to something so tightly that it started hurting you?”
✨ Aparigraha — The Art of Letting Go ✨
In the early days, I was someone who held on — to people, emotions, memories, and even little things that carried meaning for me. I tried my best to please everyone, to keep others happy, to fix situations before they broke. Their happiness mattered more than mine. But somewhere in that process, I began to lose myself. I was constantly giving, yet feeling empty inside. It took me time to realise — it wasn’t the world draining me, it was my own inability to let go, my own insecurity, my struggle to see my worth beyond others’ approval.
Then came Yoga — a quiet turning point. It didn’t change me overnight, but it showed me where I was stuck. When I first read about Aparigraha, the fifth Yama of Ashtanga Yoga, something within me shifted. It means non-possessiveness — the gentle art of releasing what no longer serves you.
I decided to start small. I looked at my wardrobe and saw how attached I was to my clothes — some no longer fit, some were faded, yet I couldn’t let them go. So, I began there. One by one, I released them with gratitude. And as I did, I realised — I wasn’t just clearing my cupboard; I was clearing the clutter within.
Slowly, I started practicing Aparigraha in other parts of my life — in relationships, in thoughts, in expectations. It wasn’t easy, but every time I let go, I found a little more peace, a little more space for joy to enter.
Today, I’m still learning, still unlearning — but with every breath, I understand this more deeply:
Freedom doesn’t come from holding on; it comes from trusting and letting go. 🌿
✨ Bring Aparigraha into your life — and watch how everything changes. 🌿
When you start letting go — of things, people, and thoughts that no longer serve you — you create space for peace, flow, and true happiness. 💫
🧘♀️ Let go to grow.
