The resulting Western Classic, with its big full-range sound and gentlemanly look, led to the eventual production of Gibson's acclaimed Super Jumbo line. The 2016 Mystic Rosewood Western Classic is a painstaking re-creation of Whitley's prototype built with some modern enhancements - like the use of Mystic Rosewood for an even richer playing experience - but taking strides to retain the original's look, tone, and response.
