How to ride the FREE Staten Island Ferry from New York City

If you're in New York City and you don't have time to do the full Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island ferry tour, the Staten Island Ferry is for you!

Located just down the pier from where you would take the Statue Cruise, the Staten Island Ferry Terminal is easy to find.

Inside you'll find a shop where you can load up on snacks and drinks to take on your quick trip across the harbor.

The ferry is FREE and there is virtually no security to deal with. Just get on. Get a seat on any level on the right for the best views of Lady Liberty.

Once you arrive at Staten Island, everyone must get off. If you time it right, you can jump on the very next ferry back to Manhattan. Otherwise you might have to wait 15 minutes or so for another one.

I highly recommend doing this while in New York!
