Formalities for Childbirth in the UAE

Birth Registration:

Residents have up to 30 days to register their child's birth.
If parents are of different nationalities, the child takes the nationality of the father.

Birth Certificate Attestation:

All expatriates must get birth certificates attested by the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Birth certificates stamped by the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi (DoH) or Dubai Health Authority (DHA) are equivalent to the seal of the Ministry of Health and Prevention.

Document Arrangements:

Residents have 120 days from the birth to arrange all formal documents including birth certificates, passports, Emirates ID, and visas for their newborn.
Failure to finalize the residence visa within 120 days will result in a fee of AED 100 per day for each day over the 120-day period, and the baby will not be allowed to exit the country.
