I made my own pole saw out of an electric reciprocating saw and some steel piping. This is similar to what others have done as seen elsewhere on YouTube.

This year I also constructed an even longer "branch grabber" pole, primarily out of a couple of 10 ft. PVC pipe sections (1” + 1 1/4”) and an aluminum flagpole base.

I have large hooks on each end of the grabber pole. The thinner, more bendy PVC top section is used to grab onto individual branches so they can be angled more downward and more horizontal for easier cutting with the pole saw.

The bottom aluminum flagpole base has its hook installed for using a bungee tether that is connected to either a 40 or 110LB. dumbbell.

The grabber pole also helps to keep the branches from getting caught in the rest of the tree when the branch is cut with the saw.

I can use the grabber pole handheld for removing stuck limbs additionally when not attached to the bungee tether, as well as simply breaking off branches once cut around 2/3rds through.

This is done from a safer distance and then another clean cut can then be made to the branch once it is shortened.

Just thought I would share something different which may also be of use to other homeowners.
