This time I illustrated the Snow Queen’s palace from Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale ’The Snow queen’. I took the descriptions provided by the author and came up with this piece. Andersen described the palace as having over 100 rooms and having been 'formed with snow and blown together'. He also mentions the aurora as the backdrop since the castle is situated in Finland. Let me know how you think it turned out.

I hope the you like the painting. I did my best to match Hans Christian Andersen's description and make it look like it had grown out of the ice. When it gets cold here, you can see the snow drifts cover bushes and cars. When walking outside, you feel the biting cold surround you as you quickly look for warmth. I wanted to put that feeling to the Snow Queen's palace. It may be freezing outside, but the palace (albeit snowed in and chilly looking) looks like it might be a nice place for a visit as you warm up your frosty toes.

I love the way the palace and the northern lights came out! I hope you do too!
