Here we have the Fluval U3 filter which is the same us the Fluval U2 and U4 filters - they just differ in size and are great internal filters that don't take up too much space in your tank.

The U series Fluval Filters are great internal filters that allow you to use biological media as well as your normal foam pads.
The cartridge system for keeping your foam and your media is very well thought out and it makes maintenance very easy to do.

At the same time that it is a great internal design, the cartridges also take up space that could be used for a thicker foam and or more media in the middle.

The next step from these internal filters would be your external filters as this will do wonders, but it is has a lot more cost involved, but you will not be disappointed in the results.
