Cold Air Intake Install 1998 Honda CR-V

A simple installation or a 98 Acura Integra Cold Air Intake (CAI) installed on a 98 Honda CR-V. The smaller filter on the middle of the piping is called a bypass filter. If one were to go through a deep puddle or drive in wet weather, this filter helps reduce the risk of hydro lock. I have found that using one of these bypass filters, I get more of a mid-range torque feeling instead of only low end power. The main reason for changing this intake setup from stock was not only to improve throttle response, but to be the first upgrade to many in this b20b4 engine. Next will be the exhaust headers, and then a cat-back exhaust system.

Note: A cold air intake alone will not greatly improve gas mileage or horsepower, but will most likely improve acceleration/throttle response. The colder the air, the thicker it is. Your ECU then puts out more fuel for better stoich combustion!
(The downside: Unless you baby the gas pedal, your MPG will most likely go down. If you want better MPG a shorter air intake located under the hood would be better. It wont have a big acceleration at first, but your engine will climb easier in the higher rpms. Hot engine air, means your ECU puts out less fuel, due to thinner air. This usually will increase your MPG. :)
