This little female Eurasian Siskin also called Eurasian Siskin or simply Siskin is a small passerine bird in the finch family.

Length: 11 1/2 - 12 1/2 cm

This bird is common throughout Europe and Eurosiberia. During mild winters this bird will stay the winter in the southern parts of Norway where I filmed it. During the winter season you can see this bird in large flocks, and like the tit it can hang up side down on small branches while feeding.

Its Scientific Name is Spinus spinus and its Synonym is Carduelis spinus (Linnaeus, 1758).
In the bird books I have it is only referred to as Carduelis spinus.

They nest high up in pine trees, and here in the northern Europe it will nest from June to July and lay from 2 to 6 eggs. In other parts of Europe it can lay its first brood during the month of April.
