TAKiO's Sohran in Showa Kayo Comedy【TAKiOのソーラン節（南中ソーラン）昭和歌謡コメディVer】

Born in 1950 in Hokkaido island, he has been active as a traditional folk singer since his teens.
He formed the TAKiO band in 1983 to create a unique and modern rock-style folk song.
This rock-arranged "Sohran Bushi" is the most famous song in his repertoire.

"Sohran bushi" originates from a labor song sung by herring fishermen in Hokkaido.
The fishermen shouted "Sohran, Sohran" as they pulled up the big catch herring, thus the name "Sohran Bushi". "Bushi" is a term that means "verse" or "song".
The traditional "Sohran Bushi" lyrics refer to herring fishing,but the words to "TAKiO's Sohran" describes how the people sing and dance to the music.

This song is also known widely as the "Nanchu Sohran". In the early 1990s, teachers and students at Wakkanai Minami Junior High School (commonly known as "Nanchu") focused on this rock style "Sohran Bushi".
And they devised a new modern choreography.The dance spread all over the country as "Nanchu Sohran".

In 1999, the dance was featured in a very popular TV drama set in a junior high school, and it got even more attention. After that, "Nanchu Sohran" became a popular performance title at athletic and cultural festivals in all over the country.
It spread to parents through children's school events. Most Japanese have memories of this dance.

At this show,"Showa Kayo Comedy”, all the performers, including those in their 60s, danced.
The choreography was based on "Nanchu Sohran," which incorporates the work of fishermen.

We Are "Showa Kayo Comedy"．
This theater company,Showa Kayo Comedy was launched in March 2014 through the idea of ETO Hirotoshi who was the leading star of the ZUTORUBI, an idol group representing the Showa period.

Since then, we have held regular performances twice a year, but in 2020 and 2021, due to the influence of COVID-19, performance was limited due to cancellation and change to online only.
However, it was finally able to return to its original shape in January 2022.

Our show follows the style of TV variety in the Showa period, where laughter and idol songs were fused.
The show consists of two parts,a Showa-like old-fashioned slapstick comedy and a song show full of laughter elements.

In addition to the members of the theater company,ITO Takio appeared as a special guest.
He performed "Sohran Bushi" live and appeared in the play as an actor. He also challenged Tale and idol songs,and got a great response.
