The Enforcement Directorate proceeds to freeze the assets of M Sivasankar, Former Principal Secretary to chief minister. ED’s move is in the backdrop of Sivasankar’s non-cooperation in ED’s interrogation. ED is planning to freeze all his assets including bank account.

It is informed that Sivasankar has been evading some of ED’s questions. And ED is on the conclusion that Sivasankar has received commission for the life mission project. They have also received statements in this regard. But they need to get clarification on whether the money deposited by Swapna into his account is the same commission money. And no traces of assets disproportionate to his known source of income have been found yet. So it is also being probed whether the assets have been transferred to someone else. It was in this context only the move to freeze the assets has been intensified.

It is informed that Sivasankar’s assets and bank accounts will be frozen soon. Meanwhile, ED extends its probe to other four big projects other than the Life Mission Project which were carried out under the supervision of M Sivasankar. Enforcement Directorate Assistant Director P Radhakrishnan has given a letter to the IT secretary seeking the complete documents regarding the projects K-Phone, Kochi Smart City, Technopark-Torres Downtown project, and E-mobility. ED is probing to find out whether black money dealings or real estate commission dealings have taken place under the guise of these big projects.

M Sivasankar in his statement stated that he has conceived and supervised these projects from the chief minister’s office.

The initial phase of the investigation will look into the tender process, the memorandum of understanding, the land acquired and released in connection with the projects and the price paid for the land. The involvement of real estate lobbies under the shade of the projects will also be probed.
ED has also received statements that Sivasankar and Arun Balachandran, CM’s former IT fellow had visited the US headquarters of the Torres company.
