This all started when a good friend of mine came to Nashville for a bike race, beers and to see Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit at the Ryman. That kicked off a conversation, which became this song. My newest single, The Right Thing to Do, is now out! It was inspired by a conversation I had with a dear friend of mine who is a Marine veteran. After a few bourbons, we got out guitars and started talking music, which led me to share one of the reasons I continue to play music, write songs and dream big. I’m driven to honor the memory of one of my best friends and college band mate, Spencer Green.

In turn, my buddy shared that he too has experienced loss in his life when one of his fellow Marines was killed in combat while they were serving together in Afghanistan. One of the common experiences we discussed was dealing with survivor guilt, and in this song, I explore this theme as well as ponder what is the right thing to do.
