Officers Dalton Schroeder and Jason Wright responded to an urgent welfare check call on Friday, Feb. 16 at the Menlo at Mueller Apartments in East Austin. Upon arriving, they found relatives who told them the young boy, William Martinez Romero, was choking.

Body camera footage released by the Austin Police Department shows Schroeder quickly grabbing an anti-choking device he personally purchased for such situations. As Wright delivered back blows to the child, Schroeder used the device to dislodge the obstruction and allow William to breathe again.
