If you’ve ever tried using Speak Screen on your iPad to read a PDF aloud but found that it just won’t work, this week’s Tech Tip is for you! The issue might be the thumbnail view, and there’s a quick fix to get Speak Screen working seamlessly.

📂 Step 1: Save a PDF and open your PDF in the Files app

📄 Step 2: If you see a column of page thumbnails on the left, tap the thumbnail icon (it is in the upper left corner of the preview) to hide them

🎤 Step 3: Swipe down with two fingers from the top of the screen to activate Speak Screen—your iPad will start reading the text aloud! Alternatively, you could select the text you’d like to have read, and tap the Speak button.
