A shooting incident on the Edinburgh 500 taxi stand in Chaguanas has left one man dead.

The victim 37-year-old David Thomas, who goes by the name Bruno, was plying his private car for hire. It is reported, he was in a heated argument with another man, when he drew his firearm. An off duty police officer attached to the Inter-Agency Task Force intervened and shot him.

The incident brought relatives to the scene upon hearing the news, none of whom wanted to speak to the media.

Meanwhile, a shooting incident on Saturday morning in Carenage has left two women and a teenaged girl at the hospital.

The women identified as Afisha Bonaparte of Bath Street Port-of-Spain and Elaalyah Richards of Beetham Gardens along with a 17-year-old from New York who was staying in Beetham Gardens, were passengers in a car on western main road Carenage, when a gunman emerged from a track near L'anse Mitan road and opened fire.

The driver of the car escaped injury, however, the women were hit in their arm and legs and are said to be in stable condition at the hospital.

Gang warfare is being blamed for the incident.
