In this video, I am going to talk about this year’s one of the most trending technology buzzword ‘Edge Computing’ and it’s seamless integration with IoT devices and cloud computing to gain real time data processing.

In traditional cloud computing,
when IoT devices generate data, they send this data to cloud server every time for further data processing, as you can see, data processing happens on the cloud server which is far from the devices, it increases the network latency and consumption of internet bandwidth.

In edge computing, everything remains same, only the edge interface comes between IoT devices and cloud server. this edge could be directly connected with IoT device or configured closest possible to the device. the objective is to offload some of the required computing logic and small data - which is currently happening on cloud server side. by doing so, the data will not travel all the way back to the central server every time for the device to know that a function needs to be executed; therefore, edge computing network can greatly reduce latency and enhance performance. The speed and flexibility offered by this approach for handling data, creates an exciting range of possibilities for organizations.

Edge computing is new approach to network architecture where, first thing, cloud computing continues to play an important role, and secondly, the new possibilities offered by IoT devices which are capable of processing the data; are forcing companies to rethink their approach to IT infrastructure.
