Historian-in-Residence for Children Dervilia Roche recently invited children across Dublin City to seek out the local history in their neighborhoods and to document their discoveries through video recordings.

In this clip, 10-year-old Adam and 9-year-old Leon explore Santry Demesne and ask Dervilia some questions about its history.

In 2020, the Creative Residency @ Richmond Barracks appointed Dublin’s first Historian-in-Residence for Children, Dervilia Roche.

Working with children aged 9 - 12, the residency seeks to provide space, opportunity and resources to help them uncover the stories of our city and its people, bringing the past to life by finding new and creative ways to engage and connect through history.

If you would like to know more about experimenting, learning and sharing through history with the Historian-in-Residence for Children, you can get in touch with Dervilia at [email protected]

The Creative Residency programme is made by Dublin City Council Culture Company.
