When I did the Portal Trail in 2008, there had been three previous deaths from people falling to their death from dabbing in the exposed section. Screw up in the section and you could pay with your life. I’m not trying to scare you, the Portal trail should do that on its own. The exposed sections are not too technical, a solid upper-intermediate rider could pull off those moves 5 times out of 6. However, that 6th time is is very likely DEATH! The risk was simply not worth the reward here. Riding these sections is Russian Roulette on a mountain bike. I love myself and my family too much to risk becoming the fourth by trying to ride those exposed sections. If you don't feel the same way then this may not be the trail for you.

This video was shot on a real camcorder mounted to my helmet. Yeah we strong neck muscles back in the day. This particularly camera was a Canon HDV10 that shot in 1080i and was kinda blending edge for its time due to its small size and optical image stabilization. While the image stabilization was good for hand held shots, it actually made thing worse while mountain biking as the optical image stabilization actually moved the lens which turned out to be awful on an MTB. I have applied some software stabilization in the remastering process but the shakiness is still there. FYI GoPro's were garbage in the comparison back then.
