A timeless gem from the 1980s, an era before the advent of social media. Originally released as a non-album single on March 5, 1982, it was later added to the band’s debut album, A Flock of Seagulls, on April 9, 1982, where it appears as the third track. Arguably the band's most iconic track, it’s been featured in countless movies, TV shows, and video games—far too many to name. It even made an appearance in ads for the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City in the early 2000s.
Album: A Flock of Seagulls
Label: Jive Records.
Songwriters: Mike Score, Ali Score, Frank Maudsley, and Paul Reynolds.
Producers: Mike Howlett, Bill Nelson (entire album)
*Creator Commentary*
I first came across this song through the Cartoon Network show Regular Show, where it was featured in a music video tribute, fitting perfectly with the show's 1980s setting. Covering this song was a real challenge, and I honestly thought it would be impossible when the MIDI file I got from freemidi.org didn’t work with the SMW + SMAS SoundFont I use. Frustrated, I gave up, but months later, I stumbled upon a Song Galaxy MIDI archive on the Wayback Machine that finally made it possible to finish the cover, and man, I’m so grateful to finally be able to cover such an awesome song.
