Full Story (Eng): Captain Shubham Gupta, born on October 7, 1997, in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, was a dedicated officer of the Indian Army's elite 9 Para (Special Forces). He completed his schooling at St. George's Inter College in Agra and joined the Army in 2015 through the Technical Entry Scheme (TES) at the age of 17. After rigorous training, he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in 2018, initially serving in the Corps of Signals. Driven by a passion for adventure and excellence, he volunteered for the prestigious 9 Para (SF), renowned for its specialized operations.

In November 2023, during a joint operation with the 63rd Battalion Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Kalakote area of Rajouri district, Captain Gupta led his troops in a fierce encounter with terrorists. Demonstrating exceptional bravery, he sustained fatal injuries and made the ultimate sacrifice on November 22, 2023.

In recognition of his valor, Captain Gupta was posthumously awarded the Sena Medal on January 26, 2024. To honor his memory, the Basai metro station in Agra was renamed 'Shahid Captain Shubham Gupta Metro Station' on March 2, 2024.

Captain Gupta's dedication, courage, and sacrifice continue to inspire many, embodying the highest ideals of the Indian Army.

कैप्टन शुभम गुप्ता, भारतीय सेना की 9 पैरा (स्पेशल फोर्सेज) के एक साहसी और समर्पित अधिकारी थे। उनका जन्म 7 अक्टूबर 1997 को आगरा, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ था। उन्होंने अपनी स्कूली शिक्षा आगरा के सेंट जॉर्ज इंटर कॉलेज से पूरी की। 17 वर्ष की उम्र में, उन्होंने टेक्निकल एंट्री स्कीम (TES) के माध्यम से 2015 में सेना जॉइन की।

सैन्य जीवन और स्पेशल फोर्सेज

कठिन प्रशिक्षण के बाद, 2018 में उन्हें लेफ्टिनेंट के रूप में कमीशन मिला और उन्होंने कॉर्प्स ऑफ सिग्नल्स में अपनी सेवा शुरू की। लेकिन उनका झुकाव साहसिक कार्य और उत्कृष्टता की ओर था, जिसके चलते उन्होंने 9 पैरा (SF) में शामिल होने के लिए स्वेच्छा से आवेदन किया। 9 पैरा (SF) अपनी विशेष और खतरनाक अभियानों के लिए जानी जाती है।

सर्वोच्च बलिदान

नवंबर 2023 में, राजौरी जिले के कालाकोट क्षेत्र में आतंकवादियों के खिलाफ एक संयुक्त ऑपरेशन के दौरान, कैप्टन शुभम गुप्ता ने 63वीं बटालियन राष्ट्रीय राइफल्स और जम्मू-कश्मीर पुलिस के साथ अपनी टीम का नेतृत्व किया। इस अभियान में उन्होंने अद्वितीय साहस का प्रदर्शन किया, लेकिन इस दौरान वे गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गए और 22 नवंबर 2023 को उन्होंने वीरगति प्राप्त की।

सम्मान और स्मृति

उनकी बहादुरी के लिए, उन्हें 26 जनवरी 2024 को मरणोपरांत सेना मेडल से सम्मानित किया गया। उनके सम्मान में, आगरा के बसई मेट्रो स्टेशन का नाम बदलकर ‘शहीद कैप्टन शुभम गुप्ता मेट्रो स्टेशन’ रखा गया।
