In this episode of Face to Face Tim Vince meets the former MP David Burrowes Founder of the Conservative Christian Fellowship (CCF). In a wide ranging interview David traces his Christian commitment from school through university and professional life to Parliament and eventually becoming the Prime Minister’s Deputy Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion and Belief supporting Fiona Bruce MP as the Special Envoy. Along the journey David has learned much about life on the ground in Britain and through his current role advocacy for those globally who are persecuted for their faith including many Christians. The role of the current Chancellor and former Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt is commended. David acknowledges the challenges of standing up for Christian values and the need to work with co-belligerents to successfully challenge legislation which does not honour traditional Christian values. The interview ended with a message of hope as there are more Christians in Parliament reading the bible and praying together than ever before. Despite the messiness and toxicity in public life there are more Christians distinctively standing up for their faith than ever before. It is a wonderful worthy calling being a Christian in politics and in parliament and we should encourage more in our church families to become local councillors and for those in Parliament. So we should keep praying them in.
