This beautiful patient of mine came to me because her lips never felt balanced. Her lower lip had natural fullness, but her upper lip was thin, downturned, and lacked a defined curl. Over time, the space between her nose and upper lip also lengthened — making her upper lip appear even smaller.

She had fillers in the past, but they left behind distortion in her lip shape. Fillers created temporary volume, but didn’t restore the natural proportions she was looking for. She wanted something more lasting and natural that wouldn’t leave her chasing results every few months.

✔️ Upper Lip Augmentation with Mastoid Fascia Graft (using her own tissue from behind the ear)

🧠 EDUCATION MOMENT: Why Not a Lip Lift Alone?
A lip lift can shorten the space between the nose and lip, but in her case, her vermilion (the pink border of the lip) was already thin with good teeth show at rest. A lift alone would risk exposing too much gum and creating imbalance with her naturally fuller lower lip.

That’s why we paired the subnasal lip lift with fascia graft augmentation. By adding volume and projection with her own tissue, I could restore balance between her upper and lower lips — creating a natural curl and fullness without the heaviness or migration that comes with filler.

At 2 months, her lips are healing beautifully. The incision hides seamlessly beneath the nose, and the grafted tissue is settling in to provide lasting, natural volume. Her lips now fit her face — fuller, balanced, and still completely her.
