Questioning this hierarchy, Joyraj sounds critical about these so-called given notions of merit, creativity and skill and their lack in Bengali theatre in contemporary times. The contradictions and vested interests become even more apparent with the sheer rise in ticket prices, which has literally restricted the audience within a certain economic class, defined by affordability thereby marking the beginning of the end.
