Описание к видео Meet Lucy, the iconic fossil that changed the timeline of hominin evolution

Happy 50th anniversary, Lucy! In 1974, this fossil changed our understanding of human evolution. Paleoanthropologist Ashley Hammond, a curator at the American Museum of Natural History, explains what made this Australopithecus afarensis fossil so special and what we’ve learned about hominins since. In her original country of origin—Ethiopia—Lucy is known as “Dinkinesh” which translates to “you are marvelous.” While the Museum features a cast of Lucy, the original fossils are housed in the National Museum of Ethiopia.
