GLOSSARY/GUIDES
NAIR: neutral air (Attack with no direction in air)
BAIR: back air
FAIR: forward air
DAIR: down air
Dtilt: down tilt
Ftilt: forward tilt
Utilt: up tilt
Dsmash: down smash
Fsmash: forward (side) smash
Usmash: up smash
DI: directional influence
LSI: Launch Speed Influence
SDI: Smash DI (Moving the control stick back and forth) [wiggling the stick, tapping the stick]
Condition
Read: when a player successfully predicts the opponent's next action and is able to punish it effectively.
Neutral: The phase in a game in which no opponent has an advantage over the other.
Advantage: the phase in a game where you have the advantage, whether it be by racking up damage in a combo, juggling, ledgeguarding, etc.
Disadvantage: the phase in a game where you are in the disadvantage and you want to reset neutral or reverse the situation for your opponent (read above).
Ledgeguarding: when you knock your opponent offstage and try to keep the offstage. Your goal is to not let your opponent recover, while still being able to get back to stage yourself.
Recovering: you are using your character's resources to get back to the stage.
Ledgetrapping: when your opponent is on the ledge and you're on stage, you are trying to counter their get up option and knock them back offatge.
Dash dancing: The act of repeatedly dashing back and forth, done to either confound the opponent or to show off.
