Join the Royal Canadian Air Force’s 103 Search and Rescue Squadron in St. John’s, N.L., for its annual “Boat Camp” maritime extraction exercise. Over seven days, CH-149 Cormorant crews, SAR technicians, and partner agencies executed hundreds of demanding hoist evolutions over open water, refining coordination, trust, and standards across Canada’s SAR community.

Conducted alongside the Canadian Coast Guard, Coast Guard Auxiliary, civilian volunteers, and industry partners, Boat Camp is designed to maximize repetition in complex, real-world maritime scenarios. The training sharpens crew decision-making and hoist precision while reinforcing the collaboration required to carry out search-and-rescue missions in some of Canada’s most challenging coastal environments.
