Every time a new GTA drops, we lose something we loved. We got a massive map in GTA 5, but lost the gyms and eating mechanics of San Andreas. We got incredible graphics in GTA 4, but lost the ability to fly planes. For twenty years, Rockstar has been trapped in a cycle: every massive step forward in technology forced them to take a step back in features because the hardware simply couldn't handle it all. But with GTA 6, that curse is finally ending. For the first time, Rockstar isn't just building a game; they’re building a simulation that doesn’t have to compromise. Today, the Zutsu Gang is looking at why GTA 6 is the first game in history that can finally say "yes" to everything. To understand why GTA 6 is different, you have to look at the patterns of the past. In 2002, Vice City introduced explorable malls and airport interiors, but those vanished when San Andreas focused on a massive three-city map. Then came the biggest "reset" in gaming history: GTA 4. To give us that revolutionary RAGE engine and physics, Rockstar had to axe planes, underwater exploration, and almost every mini-game from the 3D era. The hardware—the PS3 and Xbox 360—just didn’t have the memory to run high-end physics and a massive list of features at the same time. Even GTA 5 had to make sacrifices; to get that huge map running on the same old consoles, they had to dial back the complex NPC AI and vehicle deformation from GTA 4. For a decade, "more" always meant "less." So, what changed? Two things: Hardware and the new engine. Previous GTA games were limited by slow mechanical hard drives and older processors. GTA 6 is built natively for current-gen consoles like the PS5, using high-speed SSDs, strong CPUs, and high-speed RAM. This means the game can finally stream high-detail assets instantly without buckling under the pressure. But the real magic is Rockstar's evolved engine, which we already saw glimpses of in Red Dead Redemption 2. We’re talking about an engine that has enough horsepower to keep the advanced physics and add back the features they previously cut. Because the technical ceiling has been lifted, we are seeing the return of "The Greats." Based on the hardware jump, we can expect the return of multiple cities, just like in San Andreas. The gym and body stats, advanced robberies, drawbridges, body dismemberment, and even mini-games like basketball and lifeguarding are expected to make a massive comeback. These are features that were previously axed because they stole too much processing power. The "Cut Feature" era is officially dead. GTA 6 is Rockstar finally flexing its full potential, using a decade of hardware advancements to give us the "Greatest Hits" of every GTA ever made.
