Looking at data from Texas, this presentation overviews descriptive findings for Career & Technical Education (CTE) high school graduates and their college degree attainment, specifically asking the question: Are high schoolers who were CTE graduates more likely to get a college degree than high schoolers who were not in CTE? Turns out, for those students who enrolled in college, CTE graduates were just as likely as their non-CTE peers to get a degree.

These findings challenge stereotypes of CTE that sometimes conceptualize it as setting students on a pathway towards careers (and away from college).

Still, the positive outlooks from these results may need to be tempered, as the proportion of students attaining college degrees continues to be below targets set by Texas part of its 60x30 initiative.
