MGB GT Restoration Project - Episode 03 - Priming The Doors

In the third episode of the 1967 MGB GT home restoration and respray project, I prep the outside of the front wings finishing with 180 grit for 2k primer. I start prepping the insides of the wings to the point where all loose material is removed, any paint or primer is feathered back and rust is either treated/covered with POR15 or removed.

Due to discovering some cracks in the paint on the c pillar in episode 2, I take the paint back to inspect the substrate exposing a factory weld. I further this survey and start removing paint in the channel surrounding the rear hatch aperture in preparation for work and welding that’s needed on the aperture return/flange.

With the arrival of the new boot lid, inspection of the fitment reveals adjustment is needed on the body due to twisting of the aperture and the alignment of the hatch/hinges. I also get the insides of the doors in etch and 2k high build primer and sharpen up a skewed body line on the rear of the car with filler. Subscribe to make sure you don't miss episode four!
