Long After Tonight - The Last Days Of The Twisted Wheel

Описание к видео Long After Tonight - The Last Days Of The Twisted Wheel

This film shows the last soul sessions at a building on Whitworth Street in Manchester that was demolished in 2013 to make way for a German budget hotel (which explains 'we hate the Germans!' six mins in). In the 1960s and early 1970s it was home to the Twisted Wheel, a legendary soul club that is considered to be the birth place of the Northern Soul movement. In 2000 dj Pete Roberts started a soul revival night under the Twisted Wheel name and ran it until the building closed in December 2012.

The hotel will replace a collection of buildings that also housed the Hotel International and the Outpost bar. The businesses employed around 60 people.

Pete Roberts' Twisted Wheel soul night continues at Alter Ego on Princess Street. http://home.btconnect.com/twistedwhee...
