Regarding bleeding after the sexual activity during the pregnancy. If the sexual activity occurs during the first trimester of pregnancy and bleeding occurs for the same, the first trimester, it may not be significant and sometimes it may indicate a small blood clot, a sub chorionic bleed around the pregnancy which requires evaluation by the gynecologist. A gynecologist has to be consulted, scan taken and treated accordingly. But if bleeding occurs in the later part of the pregnancy, that is the second and the third trimester of pregnancy, then a small amount of spotting or bleeding doesn’t warrant any worry. Bleeding after the sexual activity during the pregnancy, if it happens in the first trimester of pregnancy, it should not be ignored, even though it may not signify anything but sometimes it may result in a small sub chorionic bleed and can lead to abortion. Hence evaluation has to be done and gynecologist has to be consulted. Ideally it is better to avoid sexual activity in the first trimester of pregnancy, but if such situation occurs in the second and the third trimester of pregnancy, when minimal bleeding can be ignored. If the bleed is persistent, and if there is a watery discharge a blood stained vaginal discharge, then it warrants immediate gynec evaluation.
