The first manuscript with the melodie of this beautiful, traditional song is from 1646. The text's even older.
And even though it's just a very short and simple melodie, it impresses with it's special harmony and rhythm.

I made an arrangement, that reflects and respects the simple structure of this beautiful folk song. Additionally I wanted the accompaniment to illustrate the cold, clear air of a winter day.

Du hast verblüht die Blümlein auf der Heiden.

Die bunten Blumen sind worden fahl.
Entflogen ist und Frau Nachtigall.
Sie ist entflogen. Wann wird sie wieder singen?"
