The Men in Blue seal a famous 96-run victory in Ahmedabad to become the first hosts to win a T20 World Cup tournament. They also become the first team to repeat as T20 World Cup champions. India have become the first team to defend their T20 World Cup title, win the trophy on three occasions and win on home soil. Put into bat, Suryakumar Yadav's side posted the highest-ever total in the final of a T20 World Cup, posting a mammoth 255/5 in 20 overs. Sanju Samson led the way with a knock of 89. Abhishek Sharma saved his best for last, smashing the fastest half-century of the tournament, off just 18 balls. Ishan Kishan (54 off 25) and Shivam Dube (26 off 8) also contributed significantly. With the ball, Jasprit Bumrah (4 wickets) and Axar Patel (3 wickets) were the pick of the bowlers as New Zealand were bundled out for 159 in 19 overs.

New Zealand didn’t just defeat South Africa, they humbled them with a nine-wicket rout, thanks to Finn Allen’s record-breaking unbeaten century which he got off just 33 balls.
