The Supreme Court made groundbreaking decisions this week on Obamacare as well as a case of religious freedom with a catholic social service group in Philidelphia. Legal expert Candace Kelley joins “Start Your Day” with Mike Hill and Sharon Reed to discusses how the court came to their decisions.
Kelley states that in the case of the Affordable Care Act, which has already brought before the court two times in previous years, the two states filing could not produce a merit for having the case. Kelley suggests that that the court felt as if this should be handled legislatively instead of judicially.
Over in Philidelphia, the court ruled in favor of a Catholic child service program’s discrimination against same-sex couples adopting children into their care. The court cites an agreement signed with the city of Philidelphia that allows the program to discriminate due to religious freedom. Kelley adds that this could set a precedent going forward in these types of cases.
