Dr Mannan gives you top tips on the UCAT Exam. This is essential watching for students sitting the 2021 UCAT Exam

Here are some example tips which we plan to cover:-

Getting three ‘A’ grades in your A-levels is not enough. 90% of applicants to medical school have them or will get them
The vast majority of medical and dental schools in the UK use the UCAT. Without the UCAT your choice of medical schools are severely limited
The UCAT exam is also required for many Foundation entry, Widening access to Medicine, Gateway to Medicine and Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) programmes.
We know that candidates who take the test early do better. We suspect very confident Year 12 and GAP year students take the test early.
Age, experience and practice all counts. Only sit this exam when you have done lots of practice.
The best time to sit this exam may be in in the summer holidays, before you return to start Year 13, if you can.
If you need more time to prepare then you can book a later sitting. You are able to reschedule but be careful if you leave this too late at late places may have sold out.
You need to get into the 6th decile (top 50%). If you do this our statistics show your chances of getting an offer from at least one university are good.
Don’t think if I score poorly on the UCAT I will take my chances with the BMAT. The BMAT is used by Oxbridge and some top London medical schools and attracts the best candidates.
The Situational Judgement section of the UCAT is vital. A 3 or 4 score in SJT may stop otherwise a top student getting an offer. Some practice tests online may not be as challenging as the real exam.
