We all have an invisible Talisman hidden in our pocket, and we choose which side is up. PMA or NMA.


S.B. Fuller grew up poor on a tenement farm. He started working at the age of 5, and by the age of nine was driving mules. His family had only known poverty, living hand to mouth. But S.B. was different. His mother would tell him that “nobody in our family has ever had the desire to be rich, nobody has ever had the desire to be anything.” “We shouldn’t be poor S.B.” she would say, “And don’t ever let me here you say that it is Gods Will that we are poor. We are poor – not because of God. We are poor because father never developed a desire to become rich.”


This triggered in little S.B. a want and desire. He would think about it and eventually developed that desire inside of him. He started by selling soap door to door. And after 12 long years of doing that had set aside $25,000.

The soap company that he worked for was up for sale for a price of $150,000.

S.B. made a deal that he would deposit the $25,000, and in ten days collect the remainder of the money, and if he failed to do so, would lose his deposit.

He went to friends, neighbors and everyone he knew to collect loans and on the tenth day only needed a remaining $10,000.

Despite all his work and hustle, he only had a few hours left to collect that last $10,000. S.B. didn’t know where he was going to get it, and at 11 pm on the final day he was driving down Chicago’s 61st street just looking for a light to be on. He found a store at the end and went in to find the owner working behind a desk.

Fuller just asked him point blank “Do you want to make $1,000 dollars?” The man replied yes and fuller went on to tell him his plan and what he had done.


Fuller left with a $10,000 check that night.

Fuller not only successfully purchased the soap company, but went on to gain controlling interest in 7 other companies after that.

Fuller said “We are poor not because of God – we are poor because father never developed the desire to be rich. If you know what you want you are more apt to recognize it when you see it, when you read a book, for example, you will recognize opportunities to help you get what you want.”


Napoleon Hill said S.B. Fuller carried with him an invisible talisman that had Positive Mental Attitude (PMA) on one side and Negative Mental Attitude (NMA) on the other.
He chose to always keep the PMA side up.
