Build: The key to building Poseidon is understanding his Magical power scaling. God's with high scaling get a higher percentage of magical power from items, which means that an ability with 70% scaling or 50% will be a 20% difference in Magical power added to the damage of that ability when cast - which is huge! Poseidon's abilities have INCREDIBLE scaling, and so you want to stack as much magic power on him as possible, as late game his damage will be magnificent. I've often tried to rush Gem of Isolation on him and Spear of the Magus, as it does make his whirlpools deadly, but when I realized the increase in damage from going with an early Rod of Tahuti and Warlocks Sash, followed up with a Bancroft's Talon (you can Grab Soul Reaver here if you have a ton of gold, otherwise Bancroft's is cheaper) was just too overwhelming to pass up. So give this build a try, and make sure to focus on getting as much magical power on Poseidon as possible.
God Overview: Poseidon is a OG of the Smite cast and yet he still packs a viable (and rather wet) punch. He can provide a ton of AOE damage, turn a teamfight with his ultimate, and provide excellent follow up to an already ongoing fight. Though he lacks a lot of 1v1 capabilities when his Kraken is down (besides just running away, which I guess is a tactic for some) he is best at coming into a fight after someone else has initiated and preferably is still there to back him up in case things turn sour. Poseidon works great with Gods who have predictable stuns or Control moves like Ares, Tyr, Hercules, Isis and Bacchus. For beginners, Poseidon is a great God to pick up and play, and as you become more competitive, it will be great to have a grasp on Poseidon's mechanics, as you never know when your team might just need some extra salination....as in salt....because Ocean water is salty....he's the God of the Oc-- oh forget it!
