This is a tour of Rotterdam, New York—a medium-sized upstate town packed with parks, local landmarks, and nothing particularly spectacular except the sheer volume of police presence.

In under 9 minutes, I walk through what there actually is to do in Rotterdam, NY.

We visit the main town parks and a handful of random local sites before heading into the near-empty Rotterdam Square Mall (ViaPort Rotterdam)—a place that technically still exists, but now functions more as an indoor walking loop than a shopping center. People don’t really shop here. They walk laps.

Inside the mall, we check out the brandless food court, empty storefronts, and the strange atmosphere that only a half-abandoned mall can provide. From there, I show some nameless mom-and-pop storefronts—local spots without marketing budgets that continue to exist anyway.

We also stop at a local roller rink, because somehow that’s still thriving—and honestly, it might be one of the most alive places in town.

Here, police presence is everywhere. Rotterdam might be one of the safest towns imaginable, mostly because every few minutes, a cop drives by. There is no escaping the law here.
