Der Engstlensee (1'851 m ü. M.) ist ein natürlicher Stausee im Kanton Bern und liegt am oberen Ende des Gentals (Sustengebiet) am Jochpass (2'207 m ü. M.) nahe der Kantonsgrenzen von Nid- und Obwalden am Fusse des Titlis (3'238 m ü. M.), des höchsten Berges in der Region. Der Engstlensee ist ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel und zählt zusammen mit Trübsee, Tannensee und Melchsee zur bekannten 4-Seen-Wanderung, die von Engelberg nach Melchsee-Frutt führt.

Das Wasser des Engstlensees wird durch einen Stollen in das benachbarte Gadmental geleitet und dort in den Elektrizitätswerken Fuhren, Hopflauenen und Innertkirchen genutzt.


The lake Engstlensee (1,851 m above sea level) is a natural reservoir in the canton of Bern and lies at the upper end of the Gental valley (Susten region) near the Joch Pass (2,207 m above sea level) close to the canton borders of Nidwalden and Obwalden at the foot of the Titlis (3,238 m above sea level), the highest mountain of the region. The Engstlensee is a popular leisure destination and, together with the lakes Trübsee, Tannensee, and Melchsee, comprises the well-known 4-lakes-hike, leading from Engelberg to Melchsee-Frutt.

The water of the Engstlensee is funneled through a tunnel to the neighboring Gadmental valley and used there in the power plants Fuhren, Hopflauenen, and Innertkirchen.
