Film critic and writer Anupama Chopra’s A Place in My Heart is an ode to the power of storytelling, the magic of cinema, and the adoration of cinema-goers. In conversation with writer Shunali Khullar Shroff, Chopra unravels her place of work and worship, the films that have shaped her long career and fueled personal intrigue.

Anupama Chopra - is a film critic, National Award-winning book author, and journalist. She is the chairperson of the Film Critics Guild and Director of the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. She has covered cinema since 1993 in multiple mediums. She has worked with India Today, NDTV 2/7, and Star World and is currently the founder and editor of the digital platform Film Companion, which offers a curated look at cinema and entertainment. She has also written about cinema for various international publications, including The New York Times, Variety, and Sight and Sound. Chopra has authored several books, including King of Bollywood - Shah Rukh Khan and the Seductive World of Indian Cinema, which was featured on the Editor’s Choice list of The New York Times Sunday book review and translated into German, Indonesian and Polish. She received an MA in journalism from Northwestern University.

Shunali Khullar Shroff - is a Mumbai-based writer who has also worked as a journalist. She is the author of the bestselling books Battle Hymn of a Bewildered Mother and Love in the time of Affluenza. Shroff writes for a host of print and digital publications on modern Indian life, culture, travel, and feminism, including Elle, Condé Nast Traveler, HT Brunch, Mint Lounge, and Vogue, among others.
